Perfect people not allowed
A New Approach
This is another way of saying that we all have problems and we've all made mistakes and church should be a place where we find forgiveness and acceptance and encouragement to start again. Church should be a safe place to express our doubts and fears as well as our faith. None of us are perfect. We believe God is real and He is knowable, He is compassionate and forgiving and He wants to make a real difference in our lives. He has made a real difference in my life.
A New Beginning
My brother, 3 sisters and I were brought up in the back of shops in Wollongong. Mum and Dad were business people. Our parents parted in my early teens and I was pretty broken up and hurt. I had started to go to a Scout group that was associated with the Wollongong Salvos. One night I went to a Scout Church Parade and I had a deep spiritual encounter that changed everything. My whole life took on a new direction. I had great joy and peace!
A New Direction
I joined the RAAF when I was 17 and became a medical orderly. After 3 1/2 years I left to go to Officer Training College with the Salvos to become a minister and it was there I met my wife, Coralyn. After College we got married and served together for 6 years as Salvation Army Officers.
A New Song
Then I out with an album of my own songs and toured with my family as a musical minister. The theme of the ministry was ‘Songs from the Desert Places’. We spoke and sang in hundreds of communities all over Australia and the message was all about hope. Hope for people who had been through problems, who were down and discouraged. The message was that God hasn't finished with you yet! There is hope!
A New Chapter
Then I became an ordained minister in a traditional denomination and served for about 10 years around the Northern Rivers. A lot of people have been hurt through the church and we would be the first to tell you that the church can be a pretty challenging place and lots of times its leadership hasn't done the right thing (evidenced in the Royal Commission into child abuse) but at the heart of the message of the church is a person- Jesus- and its about a relationship with Him.
A New Development
We believe in excellence and the potential within every human and working on your strengths, encouraging you to find and pursue your dreams. For a long time I have sung professionally but over the last few years went to a Conservatorium and have lessons and have become a classical singer. You can check out my music here http://www.revronlaw.com. You can reach your dreams too and we want to cheer you on! We all have abilities that can be developed and our vision as a church is to help you discover your gifts.
A New Church
So we bring a lot of experience to the new Church at Tweed. We offer compassion and a listening ear to the lost and broken. We offer a safe, confidential place for the people of the Tweed to express their doubts and fear as well as their faith. Thats why we say no perfect people are allowed because we are not perfect and neither is the church.
A New You
Maybe this is a church for you? Starting 15th April, at 7pm on Wednesday nights we will be having ‘Dream Nights’ at the Banora Point Community Centre, Cnr Woodland and Leisure Drive, Banora Point for 4 weeks to introduce our vision for a new type of church for imperfect people like you and me. No perfect people allowed. For details email nctweed@gmail.com or visit web site. Imperfect people welcome. http://www.newchurchtweed.org
